UFC 129: St. Pierre Favored to Win Over Shields

UFC 129 is just two days from now as of this writing. Facebook and other sites are now preparing for their UFC 129 Live Stream channels for internet users to watch them online.

UFC 129 features Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields on the Welterweight Championship bout. I personally visited some sites to know which of the two MMA fighters had an edge to win this coming April 30, 2011 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada.

ESPN sports analysts are voting all for St. Pierre to win this match against Jake Shields. Most of them predicted it will be by decision while some of them through TKO.

McNeil predicted that St. Pierre will win over Jake Shileds by decision. Shields will get St. Pierre to the ground at various times throughout this bout; how long he can keep him there will decide the outcome. From this vantage point, it appears that Shields won't be able to hold GSP down for extended periods. St. Pierre is the better all-around fighter, and his superior jab and footwork will frustrate Shields for five rounds. This is a dangerous fight for St. Pierre on the ground, where Shields can submit anyone, but the champ tends to keep the action where he wants it. And St. Pierre wants this to be a stand-up affair.

Anik, on the other hand, predicted St. Pierre will win via TKO and that Shields is worthy of the fight. One of the best grapplers in MMA, Jake Shields' 15-fight winning streak has spanned more than five years, and along the way he has handled a bevy of different stylistic challenges. That said, none of those challenges was as stiff a test as facing the 2011 version of UFC welterweight champion St. Pierre. GSP's MMA game is refined and without an obvious hole. At this stage of his legacy-building, he would seem too intelligent and prepared to allow the door ajar with a glaring mistake. Conversely, St. Pierre is an absolute master at capitalizing on his opponent's errors. Shields' best shot to win will come early, when his gas tank is on full. Once he absorbs a dose of St. Pierre jabs and takedowns, he'll be in survival mode the rest of the way. And still …

Will Georges St. Pierre be a sure win for Saturday's UFC 129? Tune into us here at UFC 129 Live Stream as we track the live updates on UFC 129 live at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada.

UFC 129 Preliminary to Stream Live on Facebook

Last March, we reported the official UFC 129 fight cards of which Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields will battle on the Welterweight Championship bout. According to the UFC 129 fight cards, there will be seven fights in the preliminary fight card before the main fight card. Two fight will be shown on Spike TV while the others won't be televised on TV.

Last Wednesday, UFC.com said that all five UFC 129 preliminary contests not shown on television will stream live on social networking site Facebook prior to the event’s pay-per-view broadcast.

The Facebook stream will showcase a myriad of weight classes, ranging from 135 to 185 pounds in the UFC 129. At bantamweight, Ivan Menjivar will meet Charlie Valencia, while featherweights Yves Jabouin and Pablo Garza lock horns. Also scheduled for the stream is a lightweight showdown between John Makdessi and Kyle Watson, as well as a welterweight clash pitting Claude Patrick against Daniel Roberts. Rounding out the Facebook stream will be a middleweight confrontation between Jason MacDonald and Ryan Jensen.

Meanwhile, the Spike TV “UFC Prelims Live” special, which airs after the Facebook stream and one hour prior to the pay-per-view broadcast, will feature a pair of welterweight tilts pitting Nate Diaz against Rory MacDonald and Sean Pierson against Jake Ellenberger.

UFC 129 goes down April 30 at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Headlined by a welterweight title clash between reigning champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Jake Shields, the UFC 129 is expected to host more than 55,000 fans and earn a live gate in excess of $10 million.

In addition to the main event, the UFC 129 will also feature a featherweight title bout between titleholder Jose Aldo and hometown favorite Mark Hominick. UFC 129 marks the promotion’s first trip to Ontario and may also go down as the site of Randy Couture’s last fight, as “The Natural” squares off with fellow former champ Lyoto Machida. Light heavyweights Jason Brilz and Vladimir Matyushenko will also scrap on the pay-per-view broadcast, as will lightweights Mark Bocek and Ben Henderson.

We will be watching all the bouts in all of the UFC 129 fight card as we report to you live updates here at UFC 129 live stream so standby.

UFC 129 is the Biggest UFC in History

UFC 129 is the Biggest UFC in History. Yes, you've heard it right, the upcoming UFC 129 to be held live at the Rogers Center in Toronto Canada will be the biggest UFC in history. In fact, UFC 129 tickets which were put on sale to public surpassed the predicted 42,000 fans.

UFC 129 tickets generated sales of 55,000 amounting to $11 million. With this record sales, the UFC 129 is expected to shatters both MMA attendance and gate records in North America.

The previous record was a comparably paltry $5.4-million set in Las Vegas way back in December 2006, at UFC 66, when light-heavyweight superstars Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz squared-off. The flood of fans is a testament to what UFC President Dana White calls a passion Canadians have for ultimate fighting.

"Canadians have repeatedly shown how much they love the UFC," said White in a pre-match release. "Fans in Ontario have patiently waited and it will pay off as this one will go down in the history books come April 30. I'm very excited - Toronto is going to break the record and host the biggest mixed martial arts event ever in North America."

Also included in the UFC 129 bonanza is what's called the UFC Fan Expo, which will take place at the Direct Energy Centre on April 29-30. Fans will get the chance to interact with UFC stars, watch exhibitions, take part in training and development clinics and check out the octagon.
